35 Innovation and R&D projects
The project European Transport Academy includes, in addition to two construction projects, 35 innovation and Research & Development projects. The projects are divided amongst the various sectors of the STC-Group and include all elements of the education model followed by the STC-Group: education, simulators, and hands-on training facilities and centers of expertise.

The projects concerned with education are engaged with upgrading course materials and developing interactive courseware.
Investments regarding simulators focus on upgrading existing hardware and inventory, but also on the purchase of new simulators. In addition, new software, in the form of scenarios, is being developed.
As a result of the investments in hands-on training facilities & centers of expertise, students will be able to train in state-of-the-art environments as preparation for the professional environment. These facilities are also used as locations for innovation and research.
Knowledge Institute
The projects encompass all sectors for which the STC-Group provides education. As a result, the projects facilitate the migration of the STC-Group from educational institute to education and knowledge institute. The interactive courseware, the scenarios for the simulators and the hands-on training facilities will be largely developed in-house. This leads to knowledge acquisition, knowledge diffusion and knowledge application.
The transformation to education and knowledge institute is further enhanced by several overarching projects that have as their aim the facilitation of knowledge management within the STC-Group. For example, a Content Management System is being developed for the entire organization to facilitate effective knowledge management.
